U16s NEWS:
10-02-08 Witney 1 - 1 Thame
A game of two halves, Witney gave Thame to much respect in the first half & Thame showed what a great passing team they are, only a solid Witney defence kept Thames charnces to the odd shot. A fortuitous header which looped in broke the deadlock.
The half time talk worked, Witney started & played the second half with a lot more belief and looked the stronger, deservedly equalizing and being unlucky not to score the winner.
Thank you to all at Thame for a great game of football, we look forward to the reserve fixture.
03-02-08 Witney United 3 - 1 Abingdon
United youngsters win top of the table clash in style!
Our U16’s played host to Abingdon yesterday in a top of the table clash.
Great game played in the possible spirit. Witney dominated the first half and Jamie Amer gave Witney their rewards with a stunning long range free kick. Abingdon equalised at the start of the second. Witney then broke the deadlock with a lovely spin shot by Witney’s other centre half Will Bridgewater, up for a corner. Witney’s Jack Longsdale was then rewarded for his determination winning the ball from Abingdon rounding the keeper and slotting home. Next we pay host to Thame in another top of the table clash.
07-01-08 Witney United 7 - 0 Garden City
A superb performance from a team settling & starting to gel + a cracking hat trick from Sam "wiggy" Wright simply blew a strong Garden City away. Well done guys.
01-01-08
Happy New Year to all.
31-09-07 Gary Almond joins Tom Amer to manage the U16's.
Gary replaces Wayne Oakey who quit, Wayne wanted to take the team back to Tower Hill next season to play one year of OFA then men's football. I disagreed, I believe it would not be in our players best interests. At Witney United we can offer U17 & U18's Allied Counties "floodlit" football, Reserves then First team football.
A popular decision according to the dressing room response, when I told the players the news.
31-09-07 Witney U18's 4 - 3 Witney United U16's.
A great game played in the best possible taste.
31-09-07 Appologies for the lack of news.
Normal service has now been resumed!!!
30-09-07 Garden City 3 - 5 Witney United U16's
First win of the season for the young Blanket Men. Well done.
04-09-07 U18's 1 - Witney Nomads 1 (mens team)
A New look U18,s first game was a triumph. Playing for the first time a mixture of U18's & U16's the combination was a great success with spells of lovely passing football. The U18,s squad welcomed their younger team mates and to their credit the youngsters did not disappoint. said Tom Amer its always great when a plan works, when Paul Bircher gave us this opportunity our first thought was to play a mixture of 18's with our stronger 16's, theirs a long way to go but the signs are promising. Well done all thank you Paul for entertaining us at short notice and to Gary for your help with registrations.
29-08-07 U18's & 16's join forces.
Because of work commitments U18's manager Paul Bircher has asked the U16's management team of :
Tom Amer - joint manager, coach.
Darren Teggart " Teggy" - Playing Coach
Rob Pratley - Level 2 Training Coach (taking his level 3)
to help, said Tom Amer " Paul & Gary have done a great job with the 18's over the years, they are still very much part of the team here, in fact our first involvement, last night's visit of (Newbury who played our 18's & 16's see reports) was so enjoyable and a great success because of the hard work Paul & Gary put in. A special thank you to Paul's wife, who made sure we were all watered, fed & made very welcome, thank you.
Wayne & I involved Teggy & Rob, in our opinion the best coaching team in the county to ensure our 16's received the very best instruction, we are pleased to offer the same to the 18's. With all our help we look forward to many more great nights like last night & many successful seasons.
29-08-07 Witney United U16's 2 - 2 Newbury U18's.
Our U16,s showed a big crowd a glimpse of things to come last night with an impressive
2 – 2 draw with Newbury U18’s.
Fielding a bare eleven with key players missing dew to holidays, Witney looked strong from the start matching Newbury in every department, speed, strength, skill & desire. A mistake from Witney goalie broke the deadlock. It was no surprised to see Witney not only equalise with a fantastic header from Eddie Smith, but take a well deserved lead through a powerful strike by Callum Mackinnon. Newbury levelled on the stroke of full time. Well done to all.
29-08-07 Witney United U16's 0 - 0 Witney United U18's.
After our game with Newbury we played against Witney United U18's, an excellent end to end game with both teams playing some excellent passing football.

After guiding/coaching Bampton to 1st place last year, Teggy has returned to the club where he enjoyed so much success. He has fitted in straight away, coaching with Rob on Thursday nights and managing one of our tournament teams.
03-06-07 Crowmarsh Tournament
We entered Three teams into the Two leagues of this super tournament. One
Bring on 2007/8
Our performances got better & better, as players became comfortable with their positions & players around them, so their confidence grew. The way we simply outplayed Bampton was a result of that.
Although we will look to strengthen our squad in a couple of areas this summer, our core will remain the same.
Looking great for 2007/08!
2nd in the League
On the same points as Chesterton, Witney United finished in joint second spot. Well done to Bampton.
18-05-07 Final piece of the Jigsaw!
Witney will announce in the next few days appointment of a new "play" coach to join, Wayne Oakey & Tom Amer Managers & Rob Prattley "training" coach.
This will be a fantastic signing for us, fantastic for the team, working with Rob this would arguably be the best coaching team in the league.
17-05-07 Bampton 1 - 1 Witney
Master class by Witney + a howler by the ref!
Witney gave a footballing lesson to Bampton, playing sublime passing football they really looked a class outfit across the pitch. Looking great for next season!
A howler by the ref spoiled the evening, Jamie Amer was judged to have handled the ball when he had his back to play covering back. The Ref who insisted on free kicks being taken on the whistle let Bampton take a quickie, which took Witney by surprise.
Well done lads, everones comments after the game summed it up, "the far better team were robbed"
29-04-07 Witney 6 - 1 Woodstock
6 of the best –Witney hit Woodstock for Six in performance as well as the score. Showing real form with superb passing football, Witney looked unbeatable.
Well done lads.
24-04-07 We are TOP of the League.
Thanks to a brave tackle which cost Josh Clack a broken Collar Bone Witney beat Launton 1 - 0 to pile the pressure on Bampton.
24-04-07 Brave Josh Clack injured with a broken collar bone.
Going down to 10 men, after loosing Jamie Amer to a leg injury, Josh took control of a back 3 with his usual commanding presence. A superb last ditch tackle to keep Witney 1 - 0 up put our excellent centre back in hospital. Get well soon Josh, you will be greatly missed. Can't even play golf!
15-04-07 Witney 7 - 0 Deddington.
Great effort by both teams on a scorching hot day played on the stadium pitch. Deddington were unable to match or defend against some sublime passing moves.
Well done to both teams.

We are proud to announce that we have been invited to three international sports tournaments for 2008 in, Paris, France – Ancona, Italy, - International Soccer School, Spain.
We will be sending details to all to choose which tour we take.
15-04-07 Sports Club International 2007 fair play winners.

Our Easter weekend tour to Brean was a great success for many reasons, most importantly cementing friendships between team mates.
This year we only took a few parents putting a lot of responsibility on the lads, they never let us down.
On the football front we Won - 5 | Drew - 1 | Lost – 1
(loosing to the eventual tournament winners)
We won the Under 15’s fair play award presented by Steve Claridge. (At the end of each game the referee marks each team out of 10 for fair play)
Thank you all for a great weekend, roll on Italy/Spain or France 2008.
02-04-07 Witney 1 - 2 Bampton
Hit by injury, a 10 man Witney should be very proude of this performance, well done gentlemen and thank you, you gave us 100% then more.
31-03-07 Top Training Session.
Friday night was the last session on the astro & best training session so far, Robs influance is really begining to reap benifits. The pass & movement was stunning, with such pace. Lets hope we can reproduce this on the pitch.

29-03-07 Easter Tour

25-03-07 Witney 5 - 2 Bloxham
A slow start gave Bloxham the perfect gift of Two goals, a re-shuffle good team talk & five goals later secured a great win.
Lesson learned!
A great hat trick by Abdul, stunning goal kick goal by Ben & man of the match commanding performance by Sam Whadcock.
Well done men!!
18-03-07 Witney 1 - 0 Chasewell
A solid win, first goal for center back James, all in all a good day.
11-03-07 Chesterton 3 - 4 Witney United
This was a seven goal thriller.
Witney started the brighter and took an early lead for their efforts, Chesterton equalised with a super flowing goal. Then benefited from two contentious penalty’s. The first a harsh hand ball decision, the second unseen by anybody but the Chesterton coach who was ref.
Witney worked hard to get back into the game, as they grew stronger, Chesterton started arguing with themselves. The result, was a real credit to thirteen young men who never gave up even when everything seemed to be against them. Well done Witney United U15’s
Goals from:
Jack Lonsdale | Sam (wiggy) Wright | Sam (wadders) Whadcock | Frank Harrison
A special word for Frank Harrison who showed his true character, coming back on strong, disciplined, determined & scoring the winning goal for his efforts.
Well done son, believe.
04-03-07 Witney adds to its coaching staff.
Witney in talks with Rob Pratley to help coach team from June 07. Rob taking his level 3 coaching badge will be a real bonus.
04-03-07
Ref calls of game.
25-02-07 Witney 4 – 3 Oxford City Whites.
Great advert for our game.
To the neutral this must have been a fantastic advert for boys football, passionate but fair played in the best spirit. Applause for both teams, by both teams and hand shakes at the end.
Well done to both Oxford City Whites & Witney United for a great game.
Witney started the brighter & deservedly went 1-0 up then paid the price for taking their foot off the gas with Oxford equalising just before half time. Witney again started the second half stronger scoring two unanswered goals & battering Oxfords post. To their credit Oxford never gave up & put them selves back in the game with a well taken goal to make it 3-2. Witney’s continual pressure paid dividends going 4-2 up. Oxford scored in the last minute.
Thank you to the players & management of Oxford City Whites, good luck for the rest of the season.
06-02-07 Bampton calls of game.
Chris Boot the Bampton manager has call off our top of the table clash this weekend. Blaming lack of players. The Witney & District rules state you have to have less than eight available players to cancell a game.
With the weather forcast for this weekend it would have been lucky to play anyway.
04-02-07 Launton 2 - 4 Witney
A super game by both teams.
Launton started really well going a goal up through well taken penalty.
Witney leveled things just before half time.
Witney started the second half the better & was unlucky not to take the lead within minutes of the restart.
Playing some fantastic one touch football they showed real class, going two up as a result.
Launton,s second was a fantastic solo goal.
Well done & welcome back to Sam Whadcock after injury scoring two goals.
Well done to Sam Wright for his well taken brace.
Roll on next weekend & Bampton. If we repeat some of the superb one touch football played today we might cause them some problems.
A big thank you to Launton & good luck for the rest of the season, you showed real spirit, a fantastic game.
30-01-07 Witney to face Bampton or Bloxham

Bloxham v Bampton
Henley/Leys Unity v Crowmarsh
Thame Boys v Chasewell Park

28-01-07 Witney 3 - 1 Middleton Cheney
Two goals by Connor Almond, plus a opening stunner by Sam Wright seals the win that puts Witney second in the league.
21-01-07 Witney 8 - 0 Thame OFA Cup
Thank you to Thame for a great game.
8 Goals 7 scorers. Well done Witney on a totally committed, team performance.
For the last two weeks the attitude has been fantastic. A real team spirit is starting to emerge. With all players settling into their rolls and understanding their responserbilities.
Roll on the rest of the season, sorry about the late update.
17-01-07 Bloxham 3 – 6 Witney
Another game of two half’s for the second week we lost the toss & had to play into the wind. Bloxham’s No 10 punished us with three well taken goals, we switched Jamie Amer back from midfield to his normal position of centre back which pluged the gap.
Just before the break Witney’s Sean Baxter scored to take us into Half time:
Bloxham 3 – 1 Witney
Second half Bloxham must have wondered what the hell hit them, A superb hat-trick from Jack Lonsdale who was switched at half time from right back to left midfield, another from Sean & one from Sam Wright completed the impressive 2nd half display.
Well done all of you coming back from 0 -3 down, showing real character and never giving up.
Special praise to:
Ben Horne (GK)for keeping us in the game with some great saves.
Connor Allmond (Midfield) for his strongest display so far, defending as well as attacking.
Frank Harrison (Midfield) who had to wait until the second half to get his chance, when he did he played without doubt the best football he has played while at this club, powerful challenges with an end product, sublime passing always on target. A real force in midfield showing he is not just a defensive midfielder.
Hat-trick hero Jack Lonsdale asked to play two very different roles and playing them with great attitude, passion, skill and determination.
Well done to you all.
16-01-07 Michael Temple seeks new challenge.
Mike a great servant and long time captain has left us for Bampton, a great player mike has been frustrated with injuries this season. We wish him well for the future.
07-01-2007 Witney 0 – Bampton 4
Bampton won the toss which decided this close encounter. Playing with storm force winds at their backs Bampton went into the intival 4 up, for our part we held them until 8 minutes before the half time whistle. Then ouch.
The second half we had the advantage of the wind and took the game to them but just could not find the net.
10-12-06 Witney 6 - 0 Botley
Ever since the Botley manager tried to get us demoted to the B league for allegedly trying to poach players (further events now prove that his claims were unjustified as the boys in question actually signed for another club) this tie has had had added significance.
Through injuries & other boys leaving, Botley turned up with 10 players.
The 10 young men from Botley put up a great fight, their pride, spirit & character were evident for all to see. From giving us a kick up the rear when they nearly took the lead in the first five minutes to the final whistle, they did not let their heads drop once. Well done lads a real credit to your folks!!!
After the initial scare Witney took control of the game, a great battling opener by Michael Tempal was the reward. Excellent displays from Ben in goal and his back four of Josh, (new signing) James, Sam Wright & Jack meant a clean sheet. At the restart Sam Wright moved up front his replacement Jamie Amer having recovered from a morning head ache. Down the wings Sam McNally (right) showed the best form of the season and was quite frankly unstoppable. His replacement Abdul from midfield was equally impressive. Eddy (left was a constant danger and his replacement Dan had a great day topped off with two goals. In midfield Michael, Frank & Connor were a real force and Sam upfront was strong as ever.
Well done lads.
We look forward to next Sunday when we do it all again in the cup.
10-12-06 Witney sign new central defender.
More to follow, welcome to James.
26-11-06 Witney 6 - 0 Banbury
Witney returned to winning ways in the OBL cup. A great hat trick by striker Sam Wright topped a fantastic performance by all.
25-11-06 Mid oxon 5 - 2 Banbury
Jamie Amer - Sam Wright - Sam Whadcock - Jack Longsdale - Sam Mcnally played for Mid Oxon on a stormy Saturday morning. Great performances by all our lads. Well done!!!
19-11-06 Chaswell 4 v 1 Witney United
Again a tale of two halves!
First half Witney looked a formidable team, playing as a team.
Half time Witney 1 - 0 Chaswell.
Second half Sean Baxter receives a Red Card, then the rest is lets say "a bad day at the office" not to be repeated!!!
18-11-06 Chaswell v Witney United
Top of the table clash.
15-11-06 Witney United 2 – 2 Chesterton
A tale of two halves, a slow start by Witney was punished by Chesterton, Half time 0 - 2. The second half saw the true Witney showing true character and taking this tie by the scruff of the neck. Sean was brought down in the box, got up and scored the resulting penalty. A fine goal from Abdul leveled things. Although Witney battered Chestertons goal for the rest of the match they couldn't find the winner. Well done lads.
15-10-06 Deddington 0 – 0 Witney United
Witney tried a new formation for the first time today against a well organised, hard battling Deddington. Witney's possession never ended in a goal and for their credit the home team nearly broke the deadlock against a Witney back three.
At half time Witney reverted to a back four and instantly looked more comfortable, but never found the opener.
A lot of lessons learnt for the Witney management today especially with Chesterton the next opponents.
If its not broken, don’t try and fix it!!!
08-10-06 Botley 0 - 4 Witney
- Not the best all round performance, never firing on all cylinders.
- An unbeatable defence, keeping another clean sheet.
- Four well taken goals.
- A good Chris Zolden goal not given.
- A sublime free kick by Jamie Amer off the cross bar.
- The secret to win even when having an off day. Well done lads.
- Roll on next week!!!
01-10-06 Witney United 6 - 0 Launton
The Launton manager said after the match “it was men against boys” which for me summed up a totally formidable performance.
Our back four captained by James Amer, Sam Wright, Jake Thomas & debutant Carl never looked like conceding (show me a better defence in the league!!!).
Our midfield Sam Wadcock & Jack Longsdale, without Michael Temple & Sam McNally superb.
Wingers Eddie Smith, Frank Clark & Connor Almond a constant danger.
Our strike force Sean Baxter & Chris Zolden sublime, Dan Wilcocks caused a different threat and battled for every ball.
Frank Harrison’s performance was commanding, his fitness & more importance his confidence growing with every kick of the ball.
Well done men! Bring on Botley.
26-04-06 Witney sign Carl Guschtscha from Oxford.
Witney complete the signing of this exciting defender & welcome him and his family to the club.

19-09-06 Team Training
17-09-06 Witney 6 - 2 Middleton Cheney
An explosive start, with devastating results!
An awesome first half team display of pass & move football stunned an impressive/gutsy Langford Eagles team (half time Witney 4 – 0 Middleton Cheney)
Witney strike partnership of Shaun Baxter & Sam Whadcock got of to a flying start, Sam boosting his confidence with a fine hat trick, his third an unstoppable thunder bolt from distance. Shaun putting in a “man of the match” performance and showing his versatility.
Get well soon to Mikey his impressive return to form has been temporarily side lined with a knee injury “you’ll soon be commanding the midfield again."
Well done lads & thank you to Middleton Cheney.
13-09-06 Witney 3 - 0 Langford Eagles
A totally professional job, could have been a lot more, well done.
13-09-06 Witney welcome Langford Eagles.
